British synthpop band Bastille will soon release its third album, Doom Days, but first it will headline the DC101 Office Party at The Anthem on Tuesday, Dec. 4! Sharing the bill with Bastille are Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness, Meg Myers, and The Glorious Sons.

The Front Bottoms returned to DC exactly one year after their last visit at The Fillmore Silver Spring.  This time, they stopped by The Anthem — and they didn’t come alone!  The Front Bottoms teamed up with Manchester Orchestra for a dynamic set from both bands on Saturday.

Since last year, when Tash Sultana sold out the 9:30 Club, she has created a huge fanbase in the United States, leading her to play at the The Anthem recently. On the eve before Thanksgiving Day, when many people were heading out of town, I was lucky enough to enjoy an evening with Tash Sultana.

Veteran rocker Willie Nile and his band played Vienna’s Jammin Java on Friday on the heels of Thanksgiving. Spirits were already high after the holiday, and Willie and the boys put on a energetic show, filled with new songs and old favorites. Willie may be 70, but he remains youthful and energetic on stage, still brimming with rock ’n’ roll swagger, and he moves like a man half his age.
