Often times when people go to a concert, they want an escape from the day’s headlines and news. But at City Winery recently, that distraction was not possible. Duff McKagan showed up to the intimate venue on the night of his new solo album, Tenderness, release. With the album tackling current and relevant topics including opioid abuse, school shootings, sexual assault, and mental health and suicide, a night of mindless escapism was not on the table.

There’s something very reassuring about Suzi Wu, the rising UK grime artist who is currently touring through the United States for the first time. She wore an easy confidence, and although she is really quite young, she seemed really very certain of herself in an entertaining show at DC9 recently.

The Wave Gotik Treffen 2019, the 28th edition of the legendary urban festival, occurs on June 7-10 across Leipzig, Germany. Wave Gotik Treffen is again expected to draw about 20,000 people for dark music and arts from the genres of goth, industrial, neo-folk, and others.

Visiting DC recently, a cello rock band covered 18 Metallica songs at Lincoln Theatre. Yes, Apocalyptica returned on its Apocalyptica Plays Metallica by Four Cellos Tour, and Paivi was there to shoot the show.
Okay, so I’m figuring most people reading this know about L7, the Los Angeles-based band that started back in 1985 fusing hard rocking riffs and growling vocals. But juuuust in case, let me fill you in a bit following their awesome show at The Fillmore Silver Spring recently.
