DC post-punks Priests released “Mother,” a cover of the 1988 song by Danzig today! The single, available only via Amazon Music, follows on the heels of the trio’s second full-length record, The Seduction of Kansas, which dropped in April. Priests next perform at 9:30 Club on Saturday, June 15.

When I listen to Glen Hansard’s music — especially songs from the new album, This Wild Willing — I can picture a man who has two feet planted firmly in the past but is stretching out across this temporal divide to grasp the future. His music often straddles the line separating old folk tradition and modern tones and feeling.

It was a special treat recently, having Local Natives perform two nights at the 9:30 Club. From the roaring excitement from the crowd, I knew that it was going to be a great show.

Florence Welch took her chamber pop collective to Merriweather Post Pavilion recently, and so Florence and the Machine arrived in the DC metro area for another show in support of High as Hope, the band’s fourth studio album.
