Rapper, writer, and actor Ice Cube released Everythang’s Corrupt, his 10th solo album, not long ago via Lench Mob and Interscope Records. With somewhat short notice, he launched a major tour, and he’s heading to The Anthem on Thursday, March 7 for what is sure to be a very good show.

After over 10 years and five studio albums, You Me at Six has successfully reinvented themselves with their most recent album, VI. The UK five-piece are touring in support of the album, and they stopped by the 9:30 Club recently.

In what has become an annual tradition, the Tedeschi Trucks Band recently spent two February weekends in DC for its fifth annual Warner Theatre residency. This year’s residency included four performances, each of which sold out the 1,847-seat venue. I was lucky to get a ticket and a photo pass for the final performance.

The Smile You’re on Camera Tour with Vince Staples stopped by at the 9:30 Club for a two-night run with Armani White and Buddy. It was a weird drizzly night on Saturday for the second night of this stop, but that wasn’t going to stop the sold-out crowd from coming and showing out.

Local roots music artist Lauren Calve opened for Old 97’s frontman Rhett Miller recently at City Winery DC. Accompanied by John Figueroa on the electric guitar, Lauren strummed out tunes inspired by her life and historical sources on her acoustic guitar, beginning with “Polly.” Inspired by the negative portrayal of a woman in a traditional folk recording, Lauren wanted to present Polly’s side of the story.
